2024 Reflection

Three Tree Forest Adventures 2024: Reflection

As I reflect on 2024, the year unfolds as a vibrant story of connection, education, and community. It was a year in which Three Tree Forest Adventures didn't just organize events; we crafted experiences that resonated with a diverse audience, leaving a lasting impact on their understanding and appreciation of the natural world.

The year began with a steady rhythm of exploration, marked by 74 hikes that took countless individuals into the heart of nature. To this, we added 4 donated hikes, extending our reach to those who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to experience the tranquility and beauty of the forest.

But 2024 was more than just a series of hikes; it was about creating moments of joy and discovery. Take, for instance, the birthday party we hosted. Instead of a typical celebration, we designed an immersive nature experience, complete with handcrafted games, personalized nature journals, and name tag necklaces that transformed each child into a forest explorer. And then, there was the guided hike, where laughter and learning intertwined as we unveiled the forest's hidden wonders.

Our commitment to education shone brightly during the school field trip. We transformed a simple outing into an engaging adventure, equipping young minds with nature journals and name tags, and guiding them through the trails with stories and insights. The tables, adorned with cloths and books, became a classroom in the heart of the woods.

We also stepped beyond the familiar trails to share our passion with the wider community. At the Union Chapel Visit for "Careers on Wheels," we showcased the fascinating world of local animals, sparking curiosity and planting the seeds of future environmental stewards. Our presence at Art in the Park for Parkville, for four days, allowed us to connect with countless families, fostering creativity and environmental awareness through weekly art activities, even amidst the summer heat.

Perhaps one of the most ambitious undertakings was Ghost Stories. This wasn't just a Halloween event; it was a theatrical production in the woods. Weaving together games, activities, crafts, and informative displays about local animals, we transformed a trail into an enchanting and educational spectacle. The sheer scale of the event, with 2000 people in attendance, was a testament to the power of storytelling and the allure of the natural world.

Our participation in the Parkville Days Parade was a celebration of community spirit and a chance to share our mission with even more people. With custom-designed tie-dye shirts, eye-catching posters, and a decorated wagon and car, we joined one of Parkville's biggest events, distributing information and connecting with the community.

Even a simple Humanette Storytime became an opportunity to blend art and literature, as toddlers were captivated by a carefully chosen storybook and then invited to express their creativity through a related art project.

And in the midst of it all, we found a way to celebrate personal milestones while furthering our mission. Martha's Birthday Party was more than just a celebration; it was a gathering of friends and families, united by a love for nature and a desire to create new memories in the great outdoors.

The year culminated in a Winter Wonderland event that embraced the magic of the season. Against a backdrop of hot cocoa and winter solstice books, we guided attendees in creating bird feeders and clay ornaments, fostering a deeper appreciation for the winter ecosystem.

In every endeavor, Three Tree Forest Adventures sought to ignite a sense of wonder, to educate, and to inspire a lifelong love for the natural world. 2024 was a year of significant outreach, creative programming, and a deep commitment to our mission.
